California Wildfires: Started by Global Warming...Made Worse by Politicians
Originally posted on October 24, 2007. ^.^ The sentiments expressed in the title of this article are what you have heard if you have listened or watched many of the politicos wieghing in on this event. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said at a press conference that the fires in southern California were caused by global warming...and then he repudiated that statement six minutes later. Then there was Senator Diane "DiFi" Fienstein, who said that the problem was a lack of men and equipment, and she said that the reason for this was the current military deployment to Iraq. Perhaps the most disgraceful statement came from the state's lieutenant governor, who wondered what difference a visit from President Bush would make to the situation. "We'll be polite," this idiot said, before going on to suggest that maybe Bush could recall some of the National Guard troops currently in Iraq. On the other side of the coin, we have good people in southern California who are helping each other get evacuated, they are contacting family and friends with updates and situation reports and the like, and they are all banding together to get through this ordeal. Whereas in New Orleans, it seemed that civilization had broken down, and looting, rapes, and other assaults were widely reported (in a Democrat-controlled city, in a Democrat-controlled state), in San Diego, the situation was exactly the opposite. A caller to the Rush Limbaugh radio show said that there had been a total of TWO looters arrested in the past four days. Another caller said that 800 border guards had been pulled from the border unnecessarily to patrol Qualcomm Stadium, where he described the mood as a "huge tailgate party." Congrats to the citizens of southern California for showing the rest of the country how to survive and cope with a disaster, and shame on the Liberalista politicos for attempting to make political points out of the situation.
